How often can you be online?
- Since it's the summer, I have considerably more free-time than, for example, the: fall, winter, and spring. I'll likely be able to spend 1-2 hours a day on the server. I know this may not seem ideal, especially considering that other applicants can probably clock out more hours, but I'm 16 years old; I have a job, I'm pursuing a career in professional sports, I'm studying for the ACT, and the list goes on. So, if you judge this sector of my application harshly, please just keep that in mind. I can guarantee that If I am made [Staff], then I will dedicate the most time to this server.
Which languages do you speak?
- My first language is English. I've taken Latin classes for the past three years, and although this language is considered a "dead" language, it's simultaneously the "universal" language, in that it is the base for several other languages, ie. French, Italian, etc. I can speak Latin fairly well, and I'm excellent at translating it, considering the amount of time I've been studying it.
Have you ever been punished on HydraMC?
- No, I have not.
How long have you played Minecraft?
- I have played Minecraft since I was 10 or 11 years old. I played it for a few years, and then I stopped playing due to the fact that it started to consume my life, and I needed a break to focus on school, soccer, friends, etc. I returned to the world of Minecraft 5-6 months ago.
Do you have any previous staff experience?
- Back when I played Minecraft very often, I was staff on many servers. The list of positions includes: Manager, because I'm an adept judge of character, have sharp control over situation(s), and connect with people. Developer, because I used to be excellent with managing/installing/developing plugins, mods, and understanding console as a whole (I has since then lost my skills in that department). Admin/SrAdmin, because I understand how to oversee those under me (position wise), investigate people's concerns, conduct events, etc. Head-Mod, Moderator/JrMod, as well as Helper/JrHelper/SrHelper, for essentially the same reasons: I'm willing to learn about the server I'm staff on, explore it's uniqueness, and share it with those new, or who just require assistance. I don't abuse powers given to me, such as, /kick or /ban, which is applicable to each of the positions I've listed. Lastly, and I listed this one last because It doesn't particularly apply to any of the other positions, is Builder. The essence of Minecraft is building, and ever since I started playing I have loved doing it. So much so, that I became rather skillful builder. That, along with my love for organization/congruency, helped me to establish nice structures. In conclusion, my experience as a staff member extends as far as the general positions go.
Why do you want to be staff at HydraMC?
- To me, this server has potential. I want to help spread the word about this server, and improve the experience people have on it. To be honest, I also partly want to be staff on HydraMC for nostalgic reasons; I always loved the feeling of being in a position of authority, and using that authority to instruct, and better the people/experience of people around me.
What do you think being a Helper involves?
- Helper is perhaps the most self-explanatory position. To me, It's all in the name. The merriam-webster defines "Help" as: aid or assistance. It's verb form, being to give or provide assistance. This is the essence of the position. As a Helper, you're the channel that ushers server members from a state of confusion to a state of certainty. By this I mean, your job is to clarify any questions people might have, and ameliorate their situation. Helpers should be ready and able to step up, should the situation arise, and assess circumstances perhaps outside of their "comfort zone", having ready access to staff members more able to handle the situation.
Why should we pick you over other applicants?
- What I "bring to the table" that other applicants likely don't is maturity. I'm a very mature person, and a very patient person. From my experience, your average Minecraft player is in-between the ages of 10 and 16, and people who are younger, nothing specifically against them, they are just younger and more self-centered (it's just the way we were made). I can and will serve as an example to other players.
About yourself
- I'm 16 years old, I'm an aspiring professional soccer player, and I take school very seriously, because at this stage in my life it provides me with the best road to a soccer career, as well as a backup plan, supposing I don't become a professional. I'm an excellent singer-- I made bel canto (literally translated means "beautiful song", in my school it's a group of 12-16 of the best singers)-- and I made All-West (a group of the best singers in a particular region) twice. Over the past three years, I've received 2 latin awards corresponding to the National Latin Exam (Magne Cum Laude - "with great honor"). I've earned several other school achievements for my devotion to school subjects, and love of learning(more specifically in English, Theology, and Rhetoric). I've been awarded with several soccer awards for being: top scorer, top assister, mvp, etc. My life is essentially centered around school, soccer, singing, family and friends. Accompanied by all of this, is my appreciation for Minecraft. I'm one of the only guys I know that doesn't play "video games"; the only game I play is Minecraft.
